Which D2 superstar will get your vote?
The time has come to honor the best tennis players in the country at the D2 level with the honorees for HERO of The Week. Each week we will have a list of nominees for you to vote for that stood out in competition over the week prior.
Voting will take place in the poll at the bottom of this article following the list of nominees. Voting only takes place in the poll, and the voting will close on Friday at 10:00 a.m. PST for each poll.
Without further ado, here are the nominees for HERO of The Week!
After the Rams were only able to claim one singles win in the first five rounds, Smith came in to bookend the play with the second singles W. Dropping the first set, this Rams standout gathered himself and claimed a big win in conference play.
Alvaro Garcia Gill, USC Aiken
Garcia Gill was the first in a string of winners for the Pacers in singles play versus Georgia College. He also had the biggest separation on his win, winning both sets 6-1, 6-0.
Anez – ranked 16th in the country – had no issues in his latest match, a ranked one with a foe from NW Missouri State. He won both sets 7-5, 7-6 to mark his fourth straight victory.
Christian Erickson, Le Moyne
The Dolphin men were able to win every match in their dual match with USciences and Erickson had one of the biggest scores. He took down his opponent quite easily, winning 6-1, 6-0.
Cvammen did not win his latest match against D&E easily, having to go all three sets to get the W. Even more, he had to come from behind and even went extra frames in the third set as he won 3-6, 7-5, 10-7.
Moser claimed the first win for UMO in their dual match with conference foe Limestone. Winning in straight sets, this marked the sixth straight victory for the Trojan star.
Gebre was the last singles winner for WV Wesleyan and also part of the first doubles pair that also win against West Liberty. For the standout, this marks the third time in the last four dual matches in which he won both.
