Huskies score 2 in 10th inning, advance to 1st ever CWS

FULLERTON, Calif. (AP) – Washington scored twice in the bottom of the 10th inning to come from behind and defeat Cal State Fullerton 6-5 on Sunday night to win the deciding game three of the super regional and advance to the College World Series.

The Huskies (35-24) reach their first CWS in school history, a program that began in 1901.

Levi Jordan scored the winning run on a sacrifice fly to left hit by Kaiser Weiss.

The Titans (36-25) used three consecutive two-out RBI singles in the top of the ninth to take their first lead at 4-3. Weiss doubled down the right-field line and then scored on Jonathan Schiffer’s single in the bottom half to force extra innings. Hank LaForte hit a solo shot, his second homer of the season, in the top of the 10th to make it 5-4 before an RBI single by Washington’s AJ Graffanino set up Weiss’ sacrifice fly.

Alex Hardy (5-2) got the win and Brett Conine (4-2) took the loss.
