NBA trade rumors: Knicks looking to move Joakim Noah, expected to part ways before training camp

Joakim Noah is not expected to be on the Knicks roster when training camp begins later this month.

New York is working to part ways with the 33-year-old, according to a report from The Athletic. The Knicks are looking to move Noah in a trade but could waive him using the stretch provision if they can’t find a deal, the report says.

Noah signed a four-year, $72 million contract with New York in 2016. But, he saw action in just seven games for the Knicks last season, totaling 40 minutes, and he left the team in late January after a dispute with then-coach Jeff Hornacek.

Noah was also suspended for 20 games after violating the NBA’s drug policy in March 2017.

The 6-11 center spent the first nine seasons of his career with the Bulls before he joined the Knicks. He made two All-Star teams and was the 2013-14 Defensive Player of the Year during his time with Chicago.

Hornacek was fired by the Knicks after two seasons in mid-April. He was replaced by former Grizzlies coach David Fizdale.
